The University of Texas Dell Medical School will receive $35 million per year in government funding raised from Travis County property taxes, reports the Austin American-Statesman

The funding was approved last Wednesday by the Central Health Board. The funding will begin to be available to school starting this summer, according to the Statesman

Now, the 25-year funding deal has to be approved by the UT System Board of Regents at its July 10 meeting. According to the paper, the deal is set up to automatically renew at the close of the 25-year period unless the parties are in disagreement

The school is expected to be completed in July 2016 and will welcome its inaugural class that fall

The $295 million Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas, which will begin construction this fall adjacent to the school, is slated to open in 2017
