Austin Community College has selected the architecture firm O’Connell Robertson & Associates of Austin to complete the master plan for the upcoming renovation of Highland Mall

At its Board of Regents meeting on Monday, the company was selected from among four finalists in the running for the ambitious project

A price for the master plan, which is expected to be completed by June, will be negotiated in the coming weeks and initial plans for the project will begin taking shape after the new year

O’Connell Robertson will work with Pfeiffer Partners Architects on the plan and Mullane said Pfeiffer’s experience on international projects was a positive because they can bring a wide range of ideas to the site. The master plan will decide how ACC clusters academic programs, sequences the construction phases and opens up the former mall property to the exterior of the site, which will be converted into residential, office and retail use

O’Connell Robertson has completed planning for ACC’s Elgin and Cypress Creek campuses and earlier this year was named as the architect for Central Health’s new Southeast Health & Wellness Center
