AT&T to fill 200 jobs in Austin

AT&T Corp. revealed Wednesday it has 200 job openings in Austin

The Dallas-based company said the positions include technicians for U-verse installation and customer-service representatives for call centers and retail stores. The salaries vary by position and experience, according to a company news release

The company is asking Texas-based veterans to visit AT&T's online veteran career website that includes tools for veterans to match their military skills with job openings. Prospects can apply online at

AT&T, founded in 1983, employs more than 243,000 workers

Last month, it opened a new concept retail store the company is describing at the "store of the future."

The store, at 1920 East Riverside Dr., features a 4,000 square-foot layout focused on customers' mobile lifestyles. It's designed to highlight the the company's products, services and devices across three zones

AT&T is also opening a 15,000 square-foot Innovation Center on Congress Avenue. It's part of a larger effort to push back increasing competition from companies such as Google Inc. and Systemseven Services LLC
