Arnold Oil, a holdout industrial company on East Sixth Street, has announced plans to close and move to a new, larger location on Burleson Road in South Austin

The move will put a large piece of property into play for development and Houston-based development company Transwestern is reportedly in talks to purchase the 4.1 acres

Arnold Oil owner Jim Arnold filed zoning change paperwork on the property over the summer with plans for a 60-foot building. Josh Delk, an associate vice president and project manager for Transwestern, is copied on the paperwork

The move comes as the property surrounding Arnold Oil is being converted into a mix of bars and restaurants and residential uses

Popular bars like The Liberty and Yellow Jacket Social Club are in the immediate vicinity and Greystar Properties is nearing completion of the 256-unit Corazon Apartments nearby at East Sixth and San Marcos streets

The company is expected to break ground on its new property this week
