Astrotech wins NASA contract in Florida

Astrotech Corp. disclosed Monday that NASA has awarded the Austin-based company a contract to provide facilities and pre-launch processing services for the Magnetospheric MultiScale mission to launch next year


Comprised of four identical satellites, MMS is the first mission awarded under the previously announced $9.1 million NASA Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity contract with Astrotech Space Operations-Florida, company officials said


Astrotech (Nasdaq: ASTC), which was founded in 1984 at Spacehab, employs about 66 workers. It commercializes biotechnology projects processed in microgravity environments


In May, the company posted a third-quarter loss of $133,000 on revenue of $4.5 million compared with a profit of $1 million on revenue of $10 million during the same period last year
