Cousins Properties Inc. (NYSE: CUZ) made some big plays in Austin in 2013 and it appears to be on target in 2014 for some more strategic moves

Senior Vice President Tim Hendricks of the company's Austin office told me that Atlanta-based Cousins is looking closely at whether to build Research Park Plaza 5 in Northwest Austin

If the horizon looks favorable, Cousins would build about 174,000 square feet of office space. The project could be built in 10 months, he added

Probably no one in Austin has overseen more office development during the past 30 years than Hendricks

He’s particularly fond of the highly identifiable Frost Bank Tower downtown, which Cousins built in 2002-2003. The company also has built numerous suburban office buildings, including Research Park Plaza 1-4 near Research Boulevard and Riata Trace Parkway

In the meantime, Hendricks is busy with the construction of Colorado Tower, the office high-rise at 303 Colorado St. downtown, and leasing up 816 Congress Ave., which it purchased last year
