Statewide expansion is in the works for a growing Austin-based business following a newly received infusion of cash

Snap Kitchen revealed this week that it is the recipient of a capital investment from Catterton Partners, a private equity firm

The chain, which has offered premade meals for health-conscious consumers since 2010, currently has six Austin-area locations. It also has a presence in Houston, where it expects to have a total of six stores up and running by year’s end

Snap Kitchen plans to enter the Dallas-Fort Worth market, where it doesn’t yet have a presence, by early 2014

“We’re thrilled and honored to enter into a relationship with Catterton Partners, which is aligned with blue-chip companies ranging from Restoration Hardware to Noodles & Company,” Snap Kitchen co-founder Martin Berson said via email. “We anticipate that the financing provided will support a thoughtfully aggressive cycle of growth for the next three years.”

Founded in 1989, Catterton reports it currently manages more than $4 billion in investments. In addition to Restoration Hardware and Noodles & Company, which both have locations in Central Texas, Catterton has also invested in Austin-based Sweet Leaf Tea, Outback Steakhouse, Odwalla and P.F. Chang’s

“Snap Kitchen is an on-trend, well-positioned, high-growth retail concept at the intersection of three high-growth sectors: healthy foods, weight management and restrictive diets, including food allergies,” Catterton senior partner Michael Farello said. “Because Snap focuses first and foremost on great-tasting food made with great ingredients, it serves the needs and cravings of all health-conscious consumers.”
