The deals keep coming for Austin-based Upland Software, which on Tuesday made its eighth acquisition

The purchase of Mobile Commons, a cloud-based mobile messaging software provider, is expected to close this week, the company said. Financial terms were not disclosed

Founded in 2007, Mobile Commons lets customers create and manage digital marketing efforts, programs and campaigns

The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company targets health care, higher education, government, consumer product and nonprofit organizations. Customers include the National Cancer Institute, The Ad Council, New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Tumblr

“This acquisition brings a powerful form of digital engagement to our enterprise customers,” said Jack McDonald, Upland CEO. “It is another great example of the type of strategic acquisitions that we are actively pursuing, and that our recent IPO enables us to accelerate.”

On Nov. 6, Upland raised $46 million in an initial public offering of stock. It sold 3.8 million shares at $12 a share

Upland Software’s stock closed Tuesday at $10.53, down 24 cents, or 2.23 percent

McDonald, a veteran Austin software executive, founded Upland in 2014 by combining three smaller cloud-based software companies in the project management and work management business

The company has grown by buying small software companies that have promising technology but are unlikely to break out as large independent players

Today, Upland’s products are used by more than 1,200 businesses in industries including financial services, retail, technology, manufacturing and government. Upland’s tools are aimed at helping workers increase productivity, collaborate, manage content, work fore efficiently and track resources and projects

Mobile Commons is Upland’s second purchase since its IPO. Last month, it acquired Toronto-based Solution Q, which makes portfolio management software. The deal was valued at $5.8 million

Upland has about 340 employees who are spread out among its companies
