Two projects at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport got the green light at City Council Thursday night

The first, a contract with Scott Airport Parking LLC for an up to 64-acre public and covered parking facility and other services, was passed on consent. The second, an agreement with developer ABIA Retail LLC that could put a commercial development and hotels near the airport, was approved after a 12-minute discussion

The Scott Airport Parking lease will open the door for about 2,000 additional parking spaces and infrastructure and maybe a pet hotel. The lease allows the development to take place in five phases, with the first phase including land located to the north of the airport terminal near the Hilton and across Highway 71

The 30-year Scott Airport Parking lease starts at 45 cents per square foot and is adjusted at five year intervals, as well as a percentage of revenues

The ABIA Retail LLC deal would put at least one convenience store or gas station and at least one restaurant on land leased from the city north of the airport terminal near the Hilton hotel and the cell phone parking lot. For more on that deal, see our past coverage. The developer, ABIA Retail Venture LLC has since shortened its name to ABIA Retail LLC, according to city documents
