Innovari Inc., an Austin-based energy infrastructure specialist, announced Tuesday the successful deployment of its interactive energy platform in Mumbai, India with infrastructure company Reliance Infrastructure Ltd. – a large private sector utility company serving some 9 million consumers

Following the success of the pilot project in Mumbai, the company is planning an expansion project between 100 megawatts and 150 megawatts with Reliance Infrastructure. All phases of the pilot project, including strategic, economic and regulatory components, and physical deployments, were completed at the end of May – after the project contract was signed in June 2013 – according to Ed Solar, executive vice president of sales and marketing

50 percent of the project was funded by a U.S. Trade & Development Agency grant for $662,155 while the rest was funded by Innovari

"The company's technology addresses a critical problem in the electric utility industry — the load duration curve," Solar said

By installing proprietary equipment along the distribution system and in consumers’ commercial buildings to provide real-time, verifiable load control, two-way communications and advanced analytics, the company helps utilities improve grid performance by optimizing their transmission, distribution and generation assets

Innovari has regional offices in India, Latin America and the Middle East
