Austin company recruits more call center workers

Self-storage marketplace operator SpareFoot Inc. plans to hire up to 20 more workers for its Austin call center

The company has scheduled an open house on Jan. 14 to recruit workers as part of a plan to grow the center from 24 workers to 42 this year. The invitation-only open house is from 5-7 p.m. at SpareFoot’s downtown headquarters at 720 Brazos St., according to a company news release

SpareFoot, which was founded in 2008, operates a website that compares prices of self-storage spaces. It also enables commercial and residential property owners to list spaces for rent, while the company generates revenue from transaction fees

It's one of the five startups that completed the 10-week Capital Factory incubator program in 2009. SpareFoot, which employs 105 workers, has raised at least $4.5 million in investment capital

Call center workers handle inquiries about self-storage rentals from customers nationally.
