The Austin management and digital consulting firm PulsePoint Group has been acquired by a Minneapolis-based digital agency

Jeff Hunt, a partner and co-founder of PulsePoint, said the deal will expand PulsePoint’s Austin footprint as it merges with Olson, an agency with more resources

Hunt declined to give financial details of the transaction, but said that after the merger, Olson will grow to about $100 million in annual revenue

“Candidly, we weren’t really looking to sell. We thought we were a little early in the process,” Hunt said

“But the more we talked to them, it was a great culture fit. They really liked our strategic consulting added onto what they already do with some very large clients, like Target and 3M. So they just said, ‘Hey this is a good fit, we want to do a deal.’ So we like it, it gives us opportunities to grow and help them grow.”

PulsePoint, which was founded about four years ago, specializes in brand and reputation management, digital and marketing practices for businesses, as well as organizational management

It has worked with big-name clients like Delta Air Lines, Dell Inc. and Toyota. PulsePoint employs 26 people, about 20 of whom work in Austin. Hunt said he expects that to grow with the merger

“They really want to grow in Austin,” he said of Olson. “It wasn’t about geography, but they said they recognize that Austin is a hotspot for digital and social media and a place to get great talent.”

After the addition of PulsePoint, Olson will grow to about 500 employees across its offices in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Toronto, San Francisco, Austin and Los Angeles
