Austin is the fifth-best place in the nation for veterans to find work, according to a study commissioned by USAA and Hiring Our Heroes
The study, conducted by Portland, Ore.-based Sperling's BestPlaces, shows that Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth were ranked 1-2 on the list of the top 10 cities that have the best economic conditions for veterans to find jobs. It's the second-straight year that Austin was ranked in the top 10
"Austin appears regularly on lists of the best places to live," the USAA study said. "It costs no more to live here than the national average, with the median home price of $186,800. Household income is one of the highest among our top 10 places, and the economy is performing extremely well with an unemployment rate of 5.3 percent and a job growth rate of 3.4 percent over the last year."
Indeed, the Austin Business Journal recently reported that the area's economy was ranked as No. 1 in the country in the latest monthly study by The Bizjournals' On Numbers report
