Austin shelter maker raises additional investment capital

Reaction Inc. reported raising $100,000 of a planned $500,000 financing. The Austin startup collected the capital from three investors, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

Reaction, founded in 2010, develops temporary shelter designed to be used after natural disasters such as an earthquake, wildfire, hurricane or other catastrophic event

The filing comes one month after Reaction reported raising $437,500 of a planned $500,000. In February, it reported raising a $1.5 million financing from 13 investors, according to another SEC filing

Reaction’s first product, Exo Housing System, is a portable sheltering system “that is light enough to be moved by hand, strong enough to stop bullets and has more connectivity embedded than a modern home,” according to the company’s website

McDaniel was previously principal designer at Austin-based Frog Inc. for five years. He was also the associate and associate creative director for fd2s Inc., an Austin-based consulting and graphic design firm, his online profile indicates
