Austin social media company continues hiring spree

Social media specialist Mass Relevance Inc. is expanding the size of its downtown headquarters by more than 60 percent while continuing to hire local tech veterans to fill out its senior executive suite

The Austin-based company is adding 9,000 square feet to an office of less than 15,000 square feet as it plans to hire an additional 40 workers this year. The changes follow Mass Relevance’s largest growth year, 2013, CEO Sam Decker told Austin Business Journal

The new workers will staff several types of positions such as marketing and development, he said

Mass Relevance, founded in 2010, monitors and manages social media marketing campaigns for brands such Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) and Samsung Electronics America Inc. It employs 105 workers

The company also enlisted former Convio Inc. executive Bob Tate as chief client officer, and last month it appointed of marketing executive Tim Kopp to its board of advisors. Kopp was a vice president of global interactive marketing at the Coca-Cola Co.

In August, Mass Relevance appointed Dell Inc. veteran Manish Mehta as chief product officer. Mehta was previously the founder and CEO of Marketvine Inc., an Austin-based social commerce company incubated at Dell
