Austin tech workers among highest paid in nation

Austin is among the top cities in the U.S. when it comes to high paying tech jobs, according to a report by Forbes.
The report said that Austin techies would earn an average annual salary of $92,000 in 2013-2014, a 3 percent increase over the previous 12-month period. Austin was ranked as the 10th most-lucrative city for tech workers.
Topping the list was Silicon Valley, where tech workers earn an average of $109,000, a 7 percent increase over the previous year.
According to Forbes, IT professionals nationwide saw their pay increase 3 percent in the past year, rising to an average of $88,000 from $86,000. They also enjoy considerable job security, with low unemployment in the tech sector coming in at 3.7 percent, roughly half the national unemployment rate of 6.7 percent.
