Austin City Council, as part of its ambitious long-range expansion plan for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, will on Thursday consider lease proposals for long-term parking companies and commercial developers

The Austin-American Statesman reports that the leases under consideration could bring in more than $95 million in long-term revenue

As Austin Business Journal reported earlier this month, the revenue will help offset costs for the airport's ambitious expansion plan - worth some $470 million over the next five years - that includes adding seven gates to the east concourse by 2017

The projected construction of two more concourses that would add more than 20 new gates beyond that date. Work is already underway on a $62 million project to add more baggage-handling, ticketing and security facilities

The Statesman reports that the two lease deals to be considered Thursday would pave the way for airport officials to work out details with the companies involved, including Scott Airport Parking, which is looking lease up to 64 acres for long-term parking that could add as many as 10,000 parking spaces

Also being considered, the Statesman reports, is a 13-acre commercial lease from ABIA Retail, north of the main ABIA terminal
