Auto supplier to bring 30 jobs, $3.6 million to San Marcos

Corvac Composites LLC has announced it will locate its newest manufacturing facility in San Marcos, Texas

The Byron Center, Mich.-based company will lease the 100,000-square-foot former American Tire building at 2350 Clovis Barker Road. The new facility will bring more than 30 jobs at an average wage of $30,000 per year and an expected investment of $3.6 million

Corvac manufactures wheel arch liners, under engine covers, belly pans and underbody aero covers. Its products are used by companies such as Toyota and Honda. The company operates domestically in Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana and internationally in Turkey, German, Italy, Japan and China according to a press release

Corvac worked with local economic development group the Greater San Marcos Partnership and Hays County while relocating. The county is to provide an 80 percent rebate for personal property, equipment and inventory for 10 years, totaling $189,000 in aid

The Greater San Marcos Partnership helped the company to find a location and to negotiate with Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative to ensure electric service, according to a press release

Corvac is expected to begin modifying the building in January and plans to begin operations in March
