Biodiesel manufacturer building $30 million Temple plant

Austin-based Thomas Biodiesel will build a $30 million manufacturing facility in Temple


The company, which manufactures biodiesel fuel from cooking oils and other sources, was founded in 2012 and currently has offices on Bee Cave Road. The 25,000-square-foot plant, which will be built on a seven-acre tract in the Temple Economic Development Corporation’s North Industrial Park, will be its first production facility


Construction will begin by this summer and be completed in mid-2015. The operation will bring 30 new jobs to the area


The plant will produce nine million gallons of biodiesel fuel a year, according to Thomas Biodiesel CEO Bill Burden


This will be the third energy sector business wooed by the Temple EDC in the past 15 months for a combined capital investment of $792 million


Don-Nan Pump and Supply expanded to Temple with a $4 million, 45,000-square-foot manufacturing, warehouse and distribution center


The 758 megawatt expansion of the Panda Temple Power Plant currently is under construction
