Boxer acquires another Austin email company

Email management startup Boxer Inc. has acquired another Austin-area email company for an undisclosed amount

Austin-based Boxer bought the two-person Enhanced Email, developed by Quantum Apps LLC, to expand its presence with Android users as the company plans to release a related application later this year. The acquisition increases the number of Boxer employees to 15, CEO Andrew Eye told Austin Business Journal Tuesday

Enhanced Mail launched in 2011 and now claims hundreds of thousands of users. But Eye declined to disclose the number of Boxer users

In June 2013, Austin-based Taskbox Inc. acquired Boxer for an undisclosed amount and adopted its brand name

Boxer was founded by Jason Shellen, a former product manager for California-based Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) and New York-based AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL). The company now operates at downtown Austin’s Capital Factory

In October 2013, Boxer received a $2.8 million financing from 36 investors, including Califorinia-based Sutter Hill Ventures
