Four Austin restaurants — Swift's Attic, Restaurant Jezebel, Porter Ale House and Gastropub and Barlata Tapas Bar — will vie for big honors from Bravo and Bon Appetit magazine in a cable television series set to debut in January

Those restaurants were chosen to compete in the "Best New Restaurant" program, facing off against restaurants of similar styles — such as fast casual, Italian and shared plates — from New York City, Los Angeles and Miami. The show premieres Jan. 11 and the eventual winner of the 11-episode series will receive $100,000, a feature in Bon Appetit and a spot at the Vegas Uncork'd food festival

The series is being executive produced by restaurateur and television personality Gordon Ramsay, and is modeled after his hit U.K. series "Ramsay's Best Restaurant." The entire series has been filmed, so the winner has already been decided, but will not be announced until the final episode in April

All four Austin restaurants chosen have either opened or come under new management in the last three years. Elizabeth Schmidt, a spokesperson for Bravo and NBC Universal, told Austin Business Journal the restaurants were chosen by Ramsay and Bon Appetit editors, who wanted to feature a variety of styles and showcase restaurants that had made a quick and significant impact in their cities' dining scenes
