The Central Texas Angel Network has named Claire England as its new executive director

She replaces Brent Elyea who resigned the position in October 2014 to join Austin-based venture capital firm ATX Seed Ventures

England was previously the managing director of global expansion and new initiatives for the Tech Ranch Austin business incubator. Before that, she was director of the nonprofit RISE program — Relationship & Information Series for Entrepreneurs — which manages an annual citywide event for entrepreneurs

Austin-based CTAN has reported impressive growth activity since it was founded in 2006. The network made investments of $7.3 million during the first six months of 2014 compared with $4.7 million during the same period a year earlier — a 55 percent increase

CTAN, which includes more than 130 members, ranked as the nation's No. 4 angel group in terms of deal flow last year
