Calif. file sharing company to open Austin office, add 200 jobs

Online file sharing company Box Inc. will open its first U.S. location outside of the San Francicso Bay area in Austin, creating more than 200 jobs, the company said Friday

After a year-long selection process, the Los Altos, Calif.-based company will open an office in downtown Austin this fall, employing workers in customer service and sales positions initially

“We looked across the country to find the best location for our first major U.S. office outside of California,” Jon Herstein, senior vice president of customer success, said in a blog post on the company’s website. “Austin is not only one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the country, it also has great talent and a rapidly growing technology ecosystem.”

The company says it will create more than 200 jobs, with up to 90 hired by the end of this year

Box has leased more than 20,000 square feet of office space at One American Center at 600 Congress Ave. and expects to open this fall

The company says it has more than 25 million users globally and has also opened offices in San Francisco, London and Japan in the past two years
