A fledgling homebuilder that was founded recently in Newport Beach, Calif., has secured a large land parcel in far South Austin where it plans to build 287 single-family homes

American Housing Ventures is calling the 115-acre development Legends at Onion Creek

“It’s fully entitled and we have the second quarter of 2014 as our target to begin phase 1,” said Mark Wolf, CEO of American Housing Ventures

Wolf is partnering with Spencer Rinker, also of Southern California. Both Wolf and Rinker worked together at Greenlee Partners, Sicuro Realty Partners and Johnson Capital — all in California. Wolf also worked for Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP, which has an Austin presence, and Rinker worked for CBRE Group Inc., also a formidable player in Austin. Those positions also were in California

The site is northeast of the intersection of State Highway 45 and I-35 adjacent to the Onion Creek Golf Club

American Housing Ventures has four employees and plans to hire another two — a construction manager and a comptroller

Legends at Onion Creek will include between 20 to 30 acres of open space. Houses will range in size from 1,930 square feet to 3,100 square feet and be priced for new home buyers or first-time move-up buyers. Exact prices have not been set
