The Austin area will be getting another corporate relocation, as Simi Valley, California-based ThermaSol prepares to move its headquarters to Round Rock

The company, which manufactures high-tech steam showers and saunas for the consumer and commercial markets, is beginning construction on its new $3.5 million headquarters on 27 acres at 1958 Steam Way next week, with a groundbreaking set for Sept. 29

The headquarters is part of a new major commercial development in Round Rock, north of Austin. The ThermaSol building will anchor a new industrial park feature six buildings of between 30,000 and 50,000 square feet, including a five-story office building, nestled among a park-like setting with trails meandering through a wetland ecosystem

The company was lured to Round Rock in November 2013, when city officials approved a $400,000 incentive package

"We looked at most places in central Texas, and found that Round Rock gave us the most comfortable feeling," ThermaSol CEO Mitch Altman said in a November statement issued when the incentives were approved. "We liked the bigger town amenities combined with the small town feeling and warmth of the people."

According to company officials, ThermaSol plans to bring a minimum of 45 employees to its new digs in Round Rock, and could eventually employ as much as 60 people

The new facility's construction is being managed by Sharitz Development Group and is designed by Susan McFarland of McFarland Architecture. Civil engineering on the project will be done by Hadgood Engineering Associates. Picket, Kelm and Associates Inc. will be doing the structural engineering of the ThermaSol headquarters. MLA labs is doing the geotechnical services on the entire project
