Central Health is expected to approve a funding request for $667,000 at its Wednesday meeting to help cover relocation expenses for the CommUnityCare group of clinics that serve at-risk populations

Currently, the network of 22 clinics is headquartered in two offices, 15,000 square feet of free space from the city of Austin in the RBJ Building on Waller Street and 16,000 square feet in the Wells Fargo Building on East Ben White Boulevard

With market rates on the RBJ space set to kick in starting in March – at an annual cost of $1.5 million on top of the $1.7 million cost of the Wells Fargo space – CommUnityCare is set to leave both offices and move into 29,000 square feet of space in North Austin on Kramer Lane near Metric Boulevard at an annual cost of slightly more than $2 million

The allocation from Central Health, which funds CommUnityCare’s operations, will pay for all the office furniture and cubicles to outfit the new space. Sendero Health Plans, Central Health’s health coverage system on the federal insurance marketplace, will move into CommUnityCare’s former space in the Wells Fargo property
