A Chicago-based software maker is hosting a three-day event focusing on the role of technology in business in Austin this week

ThoughtWorks Inc. is operating the event, called Paradigm Shift, at the W Hotel downtown to discuss the market trends that are happening in technology. About 100 people have registered to attend

Gary DeGregorio, the company’s director, vice president, secretary, and treasurer, said ThoughtWorks plans to highlight the strategies businesses use to keep their customers

“It’s more about loyalty around relationships," he said. "There’s no such thing as lifelong loyalty anymore. It’s not even about a combination of the price or assortment that’s being provided to one’s customer. It’s much beyond that. It reaches into the overall experience regardless of where an individual is, whether they’re transacting with you at a storefront or online. Organizations need to worry about more than how they use technology to manage their internal systems, they also have to think externally and how they’re used to focus on their customers.”

ThoughtWorks, founded in 1993, operates 30 offices in 12 countries. It employs about 3,000 workers, including 10 in Austin and 100 in Addison, near Dallas, DeGregorio said

The opening keynote speaker is scheduled to be Peter Hirshberg, chairman of the California-based Re:imagine Group. Hugh Forrest, the director of South By Southwest Interactive, is the closing keynote speaker. Click here for more details about the event
