If, in the wake of the company's announcement that it was turning down government incentives to grow, you're laboring under the misconception that Dropbox was somehow slowing down its ambitious Austin expansion plans, Sherry Birk has something to say to you

"We're here and we're here to stay," she said. "We still have our same hiring goals."

Birk is the person in charge of building up San Francisco-based Dropbox's workforce here in Austin. Currently, the company employs 50 in its lofty office at 515 Congress Avenue. It aims to employ more than 200 here within a year-and-a-half. Dropbox's Austin staff are primarily working in the company's sales and user operations

Birk said she's looking for sales and operations-focused candidates to fill out Dropbox's Austin team. Bonus points go to candidates that have an interest in technology

If you can speak Spanish, you may have a leg up, too. The company, which does 70 percent of its business internationally, is also basing – and growing – its Latin American sales teams in Austin

The office features all the expected perks of a dot-com workspace. A long shuffleboard table graces the east side of the company's lobby, workers' meals are catered by local chefs, and some staff take to zipping around the office on a scooter

As the company ramps up hiring, it is also finishing a build-out on a brand new office space in the building directly south of their current location. It's the mid-rise recently gutted at the corner of Congress Avenue and Fifth Street. When it's complete in late 2015, Dropbox offices will occupy two-thirds of the entire building — three floors. It will feature an interior atrium and a rooftop gathering space for company events
