Epicor Software to buy Atlanta startup

Epicor Software Corp. has agreed to acquire Atlanta-based ShopVisible LLC


Austin-based Epicor disclosed Thursday that the deal is scheduled to close by the end of the year. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, according to a company news release


ShopVisible, founded in 2006, developed a dashboard designed to enable businesses to monitor e-sales strategies to reach online shoppers


Epicor Software, which relocated from California in February, develops enterprise resource planning and retail management software. It was founded in 1984. Earlier this year, the company 


employed 4,600 workers, 300 of whom were based in Austin


In October, Epicor revealed plans to buy Atlanta-based QuantiSense Inc., a developer of business intelligence software designed to enable retailers to identify trends and improve 


productivity


In February, CEO Joe Cowan said in an announcement that the relocation was prompted by Austin's strong technology focus, its central time zone and business-friendly climate


In May, Apax Partners LLP, the London-based private equity firm that owns Epicor Software, was reportedly soliciting prospective buyers for Epicor three years after Apax created a larger 


Epicor by combining it with another software maker. The firm was seeking up to $3.5 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported


In 2011, Apax Partners bought Epicor Software and California-based Activant Solutions Inc. with a plan to combine the two to create a larger developer of enterprise applications focused on 


the manufacturing, distribution, retail and services sectors. The combined company claimed more than 33,000 customers in more than 150 countries and more than $800 million in annual 


revenue, officials said at the time
