New deals with more than 300 online publishers during the second quarter have helped Austin-based Q1Media Inc. serve more than 916 million video ads in June. That's a new record and puts the company on pace to double its revenue to $45 million this year. It reported $21 million in 2013

Q1Media helps facilitate digital advertising on content sites, creating optimized video ad formats for brands, and then providing those ads to publishers as a way to increase their incremental revenue

Founder Bill Wiemann told Austin Business Journal that the deals with new publishing clients as well as improvements to its Hydra ad platform have helped the company’s ads become more effective and prominent, which has increased the company’s visibility in the digital advertising space

Q1Media was started by Wiemann in 2004 and served as digital sales representatives but gradually transitioned into its current business model. The company has 50 employees – with plans to add up to 15 more by the end of 2014 – and, aside from a recent $8 million loan from Silicon Valley Bank, is self financed

Weimann said the company is working on developing an even wider selection of video ad units that will improve their impressions on viewers, and the strong growth has it looking for new office space since it has maxed out its space at The Domain

Asked about his company’s future and its attractiveness to the big fish it swims with, Wiemann said there’s no rush to sell the company as acquisition offers and proposals occasionally roll in”
