Dallas-based Inland American Communities is building its first Austin project — a 20-story project on the site of the former University Lutheran Student Center at 21st and San Antonio

The move shows that Austin continues to be a competitive city for student housing developers

The University House is designed by Austin-based Rhode Partners, which is sharing its design sensibilities across a wide spectrum of local projects from The Catherine and Seven, two

downtown luxury high rise apartments that will be delivered soon downtown, to a new retail building at Mueller

University House will strictly cater to students and includes 6,000 square feet of ground level retail that will be leased by the new University Lutheran Student Center. The religious-based

organization first built on the site in 1971

Inland American Communities is a subsidiary of Inland American Real Estate Trust, a non-traded REIT

Inland American Communities also owns University House at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth — its only other Texas property. It has acquired, managed and developed a variety of

projects in 13 states since being formed in 2007

University House at the University of Texas Austin is expected to be completed by the start of fall semester 2016. Pre-leasing will begin this summer. The project includes 188 apartments

consisting of 504 beds
