Car insurance rate-comparison tool maker InsuranceZebra Inc. reported raising $2.9 million of a planned $3 million financing


The Austin-based company collected the capital from nine investors, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission


InsuranceZebra, which launched last year in Pittsburgh, developed a car insurance price-comparison tool similar to what Kayak does for buyers of airline tickets. In March, the company employed six workers


It relocated to Austin in December 2012 after raising $1.4 million from investors such as Austin-based Silverton Partners and came out of stealth mode in September. It also recently changed its name to TheZebra


Dallas tech entrepreneur and celebrity investor Mark Cuban has also put money into the company. Silverton Partners investor Morgan Flager is a board member
