Papa Murphy’s Take ‘n’ Bake Pizza has rolled out its first “Create” prototype store. And it picked Austin for the debut

Kevin King, Papa Murphy’s chief development officer, said Austin was selected to test the new design because it’s targeted for growing the franchise and has some other characteristic the Vancouver, Wash.-based corporation loves

The prototype store is located at 11404 RR 2222 in Northwest Austin

“The demographics are solid, it’s a family-oriented community, but it’s also trendy and has a younger populration,” King said

Papa Murphy’s hired Tesser, a branding and retail design company in San Francisco, to come up with the new store, which features an open layout that showcases the fresh ingredients and allows customers to watch their pizza being made

The franchisee of most of the Austin area’s 15 stores is Doug Miller of Boise, Ida., King said

Another prototype store will open in October in San Marcos
