Northwest Austin residents have seen their shopping options multiply in the past year. The Arboretum, the Domain and the Shops at Arbor Walk, three of the region’s largest shopping complexes, welcomed a host of retailers in 2013 — many of them newcomers to Central Texas

All three centers, located just blocks apart, are operated by Simon Property Group

Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group also oversees a number of other well-known retail centers in Central Texas, including Lakeline Mall, Gateway Center, Wolf Ranch Town Center and Barton Creek Square mall, where a massive food court remodel recently wrapped up

At the Arboretum, 10000 Research Blvd., the newest additions are The Walking Company and Lovesac, which both opened just in time for the holiday season.

They join Tervis, a drinkware maker, which opened a retail outlet at the Arboretum this fall

Established tenants at the Arboretum include Barnes & Noble, Cheesecake Factory, Gap and Pottery Barn

Nearby, at the Shops at Arbor Walk, 10515 N. MoPac Blvd. (Loop 1), Breeze is the latest merchant to join the mix in 2013

A salon and spa, Breeze sits alongside a number of well-known tenants at Shops at Arbor Walk, including DSW, Home Depot, Marshalls, Sam Moon Trading Co. and Spec’s

Destination XL, a big-and-tall retailer, just marked its first year in the strip center

And across Braker Lane at the Domain, a number of shops and restaurants have taken up residency in 2013, including Arhaus Furniture and All Things Kids, a locally owned toy store. Trendy Swedish clothier H&M arrived amid much fanfare in late 2012

Next up in the Domain area is Austin-based Whole Foods Market, which plans to debut a long-delayed store at 11920 Domain Drive in January. A nearby location at 9607 Research Blvd. had initially been slated to close, but will now remain open. Anchor tenants at the Domain include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, iPic Theaters and Macy’s
