Online startup Pivot Freight raises more funding

Pivot Freight Inc., a price comparison website operator, reported raising a $2.8 million financing


The Austin-based company collected the capital from 22 investors, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission


Pivot Freight, which was founded in 2013 in Phoenix, developed a rate comparison engine for freight shipping that offers nationwide services. The startup joined the Techstars incubator program in Austin last summer. It now employs five workers, according the Pivot Freight website


The SEC filing lists Morgan Flager as a company director. Flager is an investor for Silverton Partners, an Austin-based venture capital firm that in 2013 raised $75 million for its fourth early-stage technology fund


Pivot Freight founder and President Dan Bebout was previously executive vice president of Concrete Construction Services of Arizona and the pricing manager of GlobalTranz, a Phoenix-based company affiliated with Carrierrate.com, according to his online profile
