Online tech community Wisegate closes Series B round of funding

Wisegate Inc., an online technology community, has completed a $4 million Series B round of funding

The Austin-based company plans to use the capital to hire marketing, customer service and sales workers, according to a company statement issued Monday

Wisegate, which was founded in 2007 as CDG Software Inc., operates an online community designed to enable tech workers to exchange ideas and solve problems. The startup employs 30 workers

The financing increases to $8 million the total amount of investment capital the startup has received since launching. Investors included Arcus Capital Partners, the Central Texas Angel Network, Atlanta Technology Angels, Golden Seeds and Cowtown Angels, the release indicates

In June, Wisegate reported raising a $1 million financing from 26 investors, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

Wisegate is CEO Sara Gates' third startup. She was previously a vice president for Sun Microsystems Inc., the California-based tech giant that acquired Austin-based Waveset Technologies Inc., where Gates was director of product marketing for four years, according to her online profile
