Konnect PR of Los Angeles has opened an Austin office so it can better focus on its clients throughout Texas and take advantage of growth in the local food and restaurant sector

The company opened its office off South Lamar Boulevard early this month with four full-time employees and plans to add one more in the coming months

Konnect is focused primarily in the healthy food and beverage and chain restaurant industries and its Texas clients include Dallas-based Dave & Buster's. The company has 39 employees in its two offices and it generated $3.5 million in revenue in 2014, with a 50 percent growth rate expected in 2015

CEO Sabina Gault said she first started traveling to Austin when the company landed Stubb's BBQ as a client in 2006 and its business here has grown to include Sweet Leaf Tea and Rhythm Superfoods

"I was coming to Austin at least two to three times per year and we had enough of a reach in Texas that it seemed silly to keep traveling here to do business," said Gault, who is still based in Los Angeles and will spend just over one week a month in Austin. "The city is growing so much and is such a hotbed for food and beverage concepts. It's cool to see brands go from zero to a reality and being on the shelves in Whole Foods, HEB and Kroger."
