Page, the global architecture firm founded in Austin, has secured another choice assignment. The company will design the new Charles Schwab Corp. regional headquarters in North Austin

Schwab spokeswoman Sarah Bulgatz said the deal is being finalized

“We did select Page from among three architectural firms. Page will be awarded the contract for the first phase of the project pending final details and contract negotiations,” Bulgatz said

Schwab is expected to receive between $7.8 million and $9.25 million in incentives based on recent agreements reached with state and local officials

A local architectural source who did not want to be identified said the other two finalists were Fentress Architects in Denver and HOK in St. Louis, but that information is unconfirmed. It’s also unknown how many firms submitted

No other specifics of the new local campus, including a construction timetable, are available at present, Bulgatz said

Page’s headquarters are in Washington, D.C., as a result of a recent corporate structural change, which the Austin Business Journal reported, Still, the company remains a major player locally. Page has several high-profile Austin projects in the works, notably those recently commissioned by the University of Texas

Page is designing the new Dell Medical School administration building along with associated research and education buildings. The company also is designing the UT system office building that will be built downtown on Seventh Street between Colorado and Lavaca streets

The Schwab campus will be built in east of Burnet Road on Gracy Farm Lane near The Domain. The 50-acre property currently is owned by IBM Corp

It’s thought that Schwab will build between 200,000 and 300,000 square feet. The company plans to hire about 800 new workers in addition to the 1,000 already based here
