TiltedChair Creative of Austin has become the lead agency for People magazine's digital, print and display initiatives to increase the popular title's readership

The deal, which is valued at roughly $100,000 and will run through at least the first half of 2015, kicked off with TiltedChair taking over the email and display campaigns for People's popular Sexiest Man Alive issue in November. People magazine is operated by Time Inc

The biggest component of the deal is design and content work on People emails intended to retain and upgrade subscribers to more premium features of the magazine and its digital content. TiltedChair also handled a redesign of the front end of the company's online store

Mike Ihnat, a co-owner of the six-person agency, told Austin Business Journal that the magazine reached out to his company and other Austin firms this June seeking proposals for the various campaigns. A phone conference soon after that query led to a trip to People's New York office in August, with a deal reached soon after

Ihnat said the RFP from such a prominent company came as a surprise and he said People executives were impressed with other email marketing campaigns TiltedChair had handled for clients such as Moviehouse & Eatery of Austin and The Piazza Center plastic surgery business, also of Austin

TiltedChair's 2014 revenue is expected to hit $1 million and Ihnat said the company is on pace for $1.5 million in 2015. Other prominent clients include Mama Fu's Asian House and Southside Market & BBQ Inc
