Century Communities Inc. last week announced that it had purchased Jimmy Jacobs Homes LP to establish a presence in the Central Texas market, but the production builder didn’t mention whether Jacobs would continue to be involved or whether he was moving on to other things

Jacobs sent an email to the Austin Business Journal Tuesday clearing some of it up. He said he is going to focus on commercial construction and development rather than the custom and semi-custom homebuilding business for which he was so well known

Still, he said he has some plans for residential developments in Georgetown, though he didn’t clarify whether any new home construction would be conducted under another name

Jacobs did make it clear that he will continue to operate Jimmy Jacobs Construction and is happy to be partnering with automobile dealer Nyle Maxwell on the construction of a medical office building in Cedar Park north of Austin

“Jimmy Jacobs Construction will continue building in a number of business sectors from San Antonio to the Austin area,” Jacobs said. “We have had huge success in retail, office and educational facilities. We will now be constructing even more commercial projects throughout the region, which I believe are vital to the thriving Central Texas market.”
