Portland-based marketing, staffing and recruiting firm Mathys+Potestio will open an Austin office on Oct. 1 and will offer temporary staffing, recruiting and human resources consulting services

The three-year-old firm — with corporate clients including Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) and Adidas (Nasdaq: ADDYY) — will open with two employees working out of the Conjunctured Coworking space on East Seventh Street and plans to lease separate office space in early 2014

Steve Potestio, a partner in the company, said Austin’s reputation as a magnet for creative talent made it the best location for opening a new office. He said it will attract job candidates through having a social presence in the Austin creative scene and meeting people one on one, instead of conducting an expensive marketing and advertising campaign upon its opening

Mathys+Potestio’s client list is split between advertising and creative agencies and large corporations with their own marketing and creative departments, with most having at least 10 employees. Austin and Central Texas will be the primary market for the new office, though Houston and Dallas would be possible locations for Austin-local talent, Potestio said
