The senior living housing market appears to be ramping up in Austin

Houston-based Bridgewood Property Co. will break ground soon on Bridgewood Village, a senior housing project in South Austin

The 9.4-acre site near I-35 and Onion Creek Parkway will provide housing for 164 senior adults

The 130,000-square-foot project will be built by Construction Supervisors Inc. of Houston

Recently, Irvine, Calif.-based Silverado Senior Living announced it will build senior housing in Bee Cave. That company also owns a project near I-35 and Onion Creek Parkway on Farrah Lane

Belmont Village Senior Living, also a Houston-based firm, recently broke ground on Belmont Village West Lake Village on Bee Cave Road

The Bridgewood Village development is scheduled to be open in summer 2014. Bridgewood also developed The Village at the Arboretum, 9603 Great Hills Trail, in Northwest Austin

Other companies involved in the project include the Austin office of Jones & Carter Inc. engineering, Houston-based House+Partners Architecture and Planning LLP and Austin-based Carrillo Dean Landscape Architecture

Another adjacent 17 acres is slated for retail and commercial development. The site previously housed the headquarters of Adams Extract, which moved it spice and flavoring company to Gonzalez in 2002
