Construction on the Seton Healthcare Family's teaching hospital on Red River Street will begin in the fall, reports the Austin American-Statesman

The $295 million Austin hospital will be built by Kansas City-based JE Dunn and is scheduled to open in 2017, according to the report

That brings the hospital on line roughly a year after the University of Texas Dell Medical School opens for classes across the street in 2016

Seton plans to build the 211-bed, 490,00 square foot hospital to environmentally friendly specs, using locally sourced materials. The hospital will replace the University Medical Center Brackenridge
