Caringo Inc. reported raising $5 million of a planned $8 million financing

The Austin-based software maker collected the capital from three investors, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

The filing comes four years after Caringo issued a news release indicating that it completed a $5 million round of funding from several sources, including two unidentified Texas institutional investors

In 2010, the company — which develops storage software — reported raising $1.9 million of a planned $5 million financing from 16 investors, an SEC filing indicated

Caringo, founded in 2005, employed 30 workers in 2008. At that time, it completed an undisclosed amount of Series A financing led by Vodafone Ventures, a division of the England-based Vodofone Group PLC, and Austin Ventures LP

In 2011, the company tripled the size of its office space when it relocated its headquarters to a Capital of Texas Highway location in West Austin after completing development of the fifth generation of its software, according to a company news release
