Summit Hotel Properties gets new CFO

Summit Hotel Properties Inc. has appointed Greg Dowell executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer effective Oct. 1, the company said Thursday


“We are extremely pleased to have Greg join our Summit management team. He brings extensive and valuable experience with public company REITs, specifically in finance, accounting, capital markets and operations,” said Daniel Hansen, president and CEO of Austin-based Summit Hotel Properties, in a statement


Dowell succeeds Paul Ruiz, who served as the company's Interim CFO since May when former CFO Stuart Becker resigned for personal reasons


Ruiz will continue to serve in his other capacities as vice president and chief accounting officer


Dowell was most recently the senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of American Campus Communities, an Austin-based real estate investment trust that develops campus housing


On Wednesday, Summit Hotel Properties announced that it bought a Hilton hotel in Houston and sold an Arkansas Hapton Inn
