Techstars LLC, an Austin business accelerator, has launched an internship-like program that connects graduates with more established businesses

The program, called Techstars++, enables startups to spend time on site and engage with a relevant corporate partner. For example, after completing the program, health care-oriented startup companies would spend two weeks at the Mayo Clinic, according to an announcement

The program is indicative of Techstars' long-term commitment to its startups, Austin-based Director Jason Seats said

Techstars, which was founded in 2006 in Colorado, launched an Austin-based program in 2013. Twenty-one startups have since gone through its Austin program, officials said

Techstars provides each startup with $18,000 in seed funding for a 6 percent ownership stake. Several other incubators and accelerators operate in Austin, such as Tech Ranch, the Capital Factory and DreamIt Ventures

In September, Techstars held in Austin its annual conference for portfolio companies called FounderCon. It included two days of programming and events, keynotes and breakout sessions
