The Texas PTA broke ground Thursday on a five-story building at 408 W. 11th St. that will be its new base of operations

The new mid-rise replaces the organization’s former headquarters building, which were demolished recently to make way for the new structure designed by Dick Clark + Associates

The Texas PTA, which is now operating out of a temporary facility, will occupy the basement and floors two through four of the 16,267-square-foot building when it opens in 2015. The new facility will include a training center that can accommodate 120 volunteers at a time

The first floor will be available for retail leases and the top floor will be available as an office lease. Cushman & Wakefield/Oxford Commercial is handling the leasing assignments

The developer of the project is Square One Consultants Inc. and the general contractor is White Construction

The Texas PTA is one of the largest non-profits representing children in the state with 500,000 members
