Transmission Events of Austin has bought Dallas-based Tactics Productions in a deal that further extends Transmission’s concert booking footprint into North Texas following more than a year of collaborating with the Dallas company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed

The new company will be called Transmission Dallas and will use Transmission’s marketing, publicity and booking know-how on top of Tactics’ existing personnel to program events at small and midsize clubs and theaters in the Dallas area

Transmission booked more than 700 events in 2013, mainly out of the Mohawk nightclub along with programming larger events at ACL Live at the Moody Theater and the annual three-day Fun Fun Fun Fest. The company also recently signed a deal with Circuit of The Americas to produce COTA’s downtown Fan Fest during the weekend of the United States Grand Prix at the end of this month

James Moody, one of Transmission's founders, said the company has also started collaborating with venues in San Antonio and Houston in the hopes of establishing itself in all of Texas’ major concert markets

“We get good deals with bands this ways and it’s a big advantage for us if we’re able to coordinate all of Texas for them,” he said. “We’ve found there’s lots of room below the mainstream music world and we do really well in that area right around 1,000 (person) capacity.”

If the rumored deal that would see Live Nation purchase 51 percent of Austin-based promoter C3 Presents goes through, Moody said Transmission would become the largest independent concert promoter in Texas
