The Circuit of The Americas' track southeast of Austin took top honors as the best Sport/Entertainment construction project in the Engineering New-Record 2013 awards competition for the Texas/Louisiana region

The project was submitted by contractors Austin Commercial and Austin Bridge & Road, both divisions of Austin Industries Co. based in Dallas

The Austin Business Journal previously wrote about the small Austin architecture firm, Miro Rivera Architects, winning big kudos for its significant contribution to the design of the $300 million facility

The only other Austin project to receive recognition was a merit award in the K-12 Education category for the Dell Fine Arts Center located at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, 5901 Southwest Parkway. That project was submitted by STG Design, the architecture firm on the project

Nineteen projects were honored and will advance to a national ENR competition. The Texas/Louisiana winners, whic also include a winner in Arksansas, will be feted at an event Dec. 18 in Dallas
