Upland Software Inc. has promoted Chief Operating Officer Tim Mattox to president

The Austin-based company disclosed Wednesday that Mattox will continue in both positions. Before joining Upland in 2014, he held several executive positions at Round Rock-based Dell Inc., worked for Boston-based Bain & Co. and California-based Oracle Corp., according to an Upland Software news release

Upland Software, which was founded in 2010, develops project management software. It was set up as a subsidiary of holding company Silverback Enterprise Group Inc., also founded in 2010 with a strategy to rapidly grow Upland Software through a merger-and-acquisition strategy. It employed 296 workers in late June

In December, Upland Software agreed to buy New York-based messaging software maker Mobile Commons Inc., the company's second acquisition since its initial public offering in November. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed

Excluding Mobile Commons, Upland Software operates seven software brands, including San Francisco-based Clickability, Boston-based PowerSteering Software Inc., Montreal-based Tenrox Inc., California-based EPM Live, Nebraska-based FileBound and New Jersey-based ComSci Inc
